It indeed was a choice for me. Earlier this year, I tried both the kindles (kindle and kindle dx) and returned them after finding the keyboard hard to use. I think the Amazon guys did not do much of a usability study when designing the keyboard. I really hope that the nook overcomes the deficiencies of the kindle. I really like the idea of reading books on a e-reader.

Coming to the nook, it took me some time to unbox the nook. The team at Barnes and Noble over-packaged it so much that I had to google for instructions on how to open the packaging.The packaging opens like a book (too clever for its own good!).

Once I got it open, I could not use it right away since the instructions say that I have to charge it completely before using it.

I am waiting. So far my impression has been mixed – clean packaging but hard to open.
